5-Step Process for Network Integrations: How Tenderly Does It

Tenderly follows a five-step process when partnering with new chains, offering a modular pricing model, premium support, and unique benefits such as Developer Revenue Share.

Tenderly's 5-Step Process for Integrating EVM-Compatible Chains

In this post

In 2024 alone, Tenderly integrated 25 network ecosystems, more than in all the previous years combined. We believe this speaks volumes about two important facts.

One, there’s no longer any doubt that the EVM ecosystem is multichain. The road to Ethereum’s scalability is a combined L1 and L2 approach, with rollups having a key role in tackling diverse use cases with a single goal – bringing the blockchain to the people.

Two, Tenderly has a clear, straightforward integration process. It appeals to our network partners because it provides clear steps, a modular pricing model for each stage of the network journey, and premium support every step of the way. It’s also designed with a single goal in mind – supporting you in bringing the blockchain to the people.

As a full-stack Web3 infrastructure partner for networks, we bring advanced infrastructural solutions and dev tools to your team, enabling you to build, scale, and grow more easily while empowering your developer community. To further support ecosystem growth and facilitate network integrations, we’d like to share our five-step process with you.

1. Intro call: what do you need to know?

Our process starts with an introductory call with one of our network partnership managers. The goal of this meeting is to better understand your infrastructure needs, the stage of your network journey, and your familiarity with Tenderly.

During the call, our network partnership manager presents key information about the integration with Tenderly, including our modular pricing, scope of integration, and the next steps. They go over our pricing model which includes:

  • Flexible, modular pricing that caters to all stages of your network journey, enabling you to choose which tools you want to integrate and when.
  • Developer Revenue Share, a revenue-sharing program where you get a certain percentage of revenue back depending on your selected plan.
  • No additional storage costs when adding new Tenderly products. You pay for network storage only the first time you integrate with Tenderly. Then, you simply add new products instead of paying for storage every time you integrate a new tool with a separate provider.

You’re welcome to share any requirements and ask questions about our integration process or Tenderly’s full-stack infrastructure in general. Our network partnership manager may also schedule an additional meeting with your infrastructure lead to fully understand your needs.

2. Tech evaluation: what’s your chain like?

No two chains are the same, and this is no longer just metaphorical. With so many tech stack variations, an increasing number of networks have custom EVM implementations, at least to some extent. For this reason, technical evaluation is an essential next step in our integration process.

As Tenderly supports EVM-compatible networks out-of-the-box, we can integrate chains built using the OP Stack, Arbitrum Nitro, Avalanche Subnets, Polygon CDK, zkSync, or geth fork seamlessly. The vanilla integrations are straightforward and last up to two weeks.

However, if your chain has a custom EVM implementation that deviates from the standard tech stacks, or is non-EVM, our network team needs to conduct further evaluation. During in-depth technical research, our team evaluates the level of complexity and determines whether the integration is possible.

3. Plan selection: what’s the right tier for you?

Once we have more information on the technical setup of your chain, our network partnership manager will schedule another call to discuss the status of the integration. We suggest having this meeting with an integration or engineering lead to define your unique requirements for the integration.

The modular approach

As mentioned, the pricing is completely modular, allowing you to integrate the Tenderly tools and infrastructure you need:

For instance, you may start off with Tenderly's essential dev tools such as Debugger, Simulator, and Gas Profiler. Then, as your team scales, you can add Virtual TestNets to complete your development infrastructure stack.

How to choose?

Based on your needs and the technical aspects of your chain, our network partnership manager can suggest the integration tier, providing any additional explanation and guidance.

Overall, we advise considering two important factors when choosing a tier:

  1. Is your network team- or ecosystem-focused? Are you launching an appchain and want to use Tenderly internally with your team or growing a network ecosystem and want to enable Tenderly for your developer community too?
  2. What’s the size of your chain? Do you have millions or billions of transactions that we need to index? The size of your chain determines the storage capacity needed to support it. Plus, we integrate chains from genesis to ensure 100% fidelity across our products.

Each plan has different rate limits and Developer Share percentages, giving you enough flexibility to grow. As your infrastructure partner, our goal is to support you on your network journey, so we want to help you choose a plan that best fits your needs.

4. Contract signing: how do you want to pay?

After selecting the network tier and agreeing on the integration, our next step entails finalizing the agreement. Depending on your needs, you can choose between multi-year agreements with up to 15% discounts for long-term commitments. You can also decide on the frequency and method of payments since we offer several options depending on your selected tier.

During this stage, our legal team works with you side by side, offering any additional support and guidance. They send the official offer for you to review, specifying the agreed-upon terms and conditions.

Once again, if you decide to expand to other Tenderly tools and infrastructure components, you don't have to pay for storage again. Instead, you only pay for additional tools you want to add to your stack. This way, you lower the compounding costs of tooling and infrastructure integration in the long run.

5. Integration & promotion: are you ready to get rolling?

We’re almost there!

The integration work starts at a time that works for your team. For instance, if you’re launching your mainnet in May, you can sign the contract in January and schedule the integration for a later date. Our team then kicks off the integration at the agreed time.

ℹ️
One important piece of info – all integration costs are on us! You don’t pay for the integration work. You get charged for Tenderly’s support only after we go live.

Once the integration is complete, we coordinate the announcement with your team. As we work closely with you every step of the way, we can support you as launch partners with our marketing activities.
